Gaertner & Associates was established in August 2000 when Michael moved to Ballina with a small team to form his own practice. The practice had tremendous growth and In January 2003, Paul became a partner. The practice continues to grow substantially and we currently have 7 on the team to meet the needs of our clients. Our main office is situated in Ballina, however in July 2009 we opened an additional office in Lismore after acquiring the practice of Peter Nind.

In July 2009 Quantum Wealth Solutions began offering a wide range of financial services to Gaertner & Associates clients. They can be contacted by either ringing the Ballina office of using the link via this website.

Michael Gaertner FCA
Partner

Michael has been working in the accounting and financial industry for over 30 years. Michael completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Macquarie University in 1979. Michael has been a registered tax agent since 1980, and became a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1991. Michael has lived in the local area since 1988 and now resides in Ballina. Michael is married to Donna, and he has two adult children. He enjoys catching up with family and friends, and his interests include all sports.

Paul Latta BBus
Partner

Paul completed his Bachelor of Business (Major in Accounting) at Southern Cross University in 1997. Paul joined Michael in Lismore in October 1997 prior to moving to Ballina in August 2000. Paul is an authorised representative of Professional Investment Services through Quantum Wealth Solutions, and has been financial planning since 2000. Paul grew up in the local area and now lives in Alstonville. Paul has 2 children, Poppy and Piper, and his interests include all sports, his passion being baseball and rugby league.

Blake Johnson
Accountant

Blake's accounting career started in February 2004. Blake joined Gaertner & Associates in October 2007 where he specialises in taxation. Blake currently studies at Southern Cross University where he is undertaking a business course, majoring in Accounting. Blake has been living in the region since 1994 and currently resides in Lismore with his partner, Rebecca and is a proud father to his young son. Blake has many interests including golf, squash, cricket and rugby league.

Karyn Cornwell
Office Manager

Karyn completed a Certificate VI in Business Management in 2004. Karyn commenced work at Gaertner & Associates in October 2008. Karyn moved to Lennox Head in April 2008 from rural South Australia. She is married to Jim with 4 children and interests include socialising with family and friends, watching her children play their chosen sport and when time permits sitting down with a good book.

Dawn Back
Administration / Accounting

Dawn commenced work with Gaertner & Associates in July 2009. Dawn has a wealth of experience having worked in the industry since 1971. Dawn grew up in Clovass and moved to Lismore when she started working. Dawn is married to Graham and currently lives in Goonellabah. Dawn has many interests including church activities, reading, football and above all family.

Tamara Clarke
Receptionist
Tamara commenced work in January 2010 and is currently completing a traineeship in Business Administration Certificate IV. Tamara has grown up in the local area and recently completed year 12 at Alstonville High School. Tamara’s interests include netball, socialising with friends & family and going to the beach.

Jessica Sutton
Receptionist

Jessica commenced work in July 2011 and is currently completing a traineeship in Business Administration Certificate III. Jessica moved to the local area when she was in year 3 and in 2009 completed year 12 at Richmond River High School. Jessica’s interests include festivals, having dinner with friends and most importantly spending time with family.
